Lending support for poor girls and women going through all forms of abuse and harmful cultural practices in rural communities require legal backing. Equity Watch Initiative with the support of Girls Opportunity Alliance embarked on sensitization/advocacy visit to South East zonal office of Legal Aid Council canvassing support for legal aid to assuage the plight of the indigent women and girls in rural communities in Nsukka areas. As an alternative to the erratic justice system in Nigeria, we had an intensive discussion about Empowerment Self Defense and how we can leverage ESD skills to prevent violence against women and girls.
