EDUCATING STUDENTS ON SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
Equity Watch Initiative recently wrapped up a transformative training session with secondary school teachers that was focused on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Gender Value Clarifications. A classroom is more than just a place for academic facts—it’s where character is built.
By equipping teachers with the tools to navigate emotional intelligence and challenge gender stereotypes, we are creating a safer, more inclusive environment for every student to thrive, helping students to manage their emotions and build healthy relationships, and breaking down biases to ensure every student feels seen and respected.
The energy in the room was electrifying! It’s not always easy to challenge long-held beliefs, but these teachers showed up with open minds and hearts. When we support our teachers’ emotional intelligence, we change the lives of their students particularly adolescent girls.
Let’s build classrooms where empathy is the standard.
Huge shoutout to the dedicated educators who joined us to learn, unlearn, and lead the way toward a more empathetic school culture and Girls Opportunity Alliance for their support. We thank Osita Ossai and Chiemezie Atama for facilitating the training.
